Kiki Kogelnik Venice Biennale Art Exhibition

The works of Kiki Kogelnik (1935-1997 Austria) are exhibited in the Corderie of the Arsenal in Venice.

The Austrian artist, whose works presented corresponded to the years 1964 to 1967, shows the approach of Kiki Kogelnik to modernization, the destructuring, and the dehumanization of the human body as he planned it.

A very visionary approach to today's world with the arrival of robots in our daily lives.

Robots build cars that relieve us of the tedious tasks of our daily lives while making us children, sending us notifications to let us know the progress of duties or the failures of ongoing processes.

Our eyes and ears are no longer used to seeing things directly or hearing them; we see messages on the different screens that populate our lives, accompanied by beeps and digitized voices.

We entered the world imagined sixty years ago by this visionary artist.

His paintings show us robotic human bodies, cut into lines and dots, recomposed by the machine, bodies that no longer belong to each other, bodies that repeat themselves to the infinity of the photocopier that reproduces them.

These bodies are, however, presented sexually with breasts and genitals.

But there is nothing more erotic, no more sexual attraction, no more love between the man and the woman whose genitals are no longer used and represented only in a purely reproductive way.

And here, the artist pushes robotic horror to its extreme by creating a reproduction of a man who has become a robot without a fetus, without gestation, by a purely robotic reproduction of body parts that are then recomposed.

There is no need to love each other to reproduce; we have become robots: chilling and... real!
