Gerardo Goldwasser “Persona” Uruguay Pavilion Venice Biennale Art Exhibition
Gerardo Goldwasser was born in 1961 in Montevideo, Uruguay, where he lives and works. His works are exhibited in the Uruguay Pavilion of the Giardini Biennale.

The word “Persona” originates from the ancient theatre; initially, it meant “actor mask”.Likewise, clothing covers the body of the individual who masks it by dressing himself in accordance with the role he wants or should play in society.
The question is how the individual builds himself and perceives himself as a personality through his clothing choices and lifestyle.
The Uruguayan artist proposes a reflection on the modes and ways of covering and exposing bodies, distinguishing them, and disciplining them through his exhibition of white and black fabric.
An exhibition without colours, like the little tailor manual of Gerardo Goldwasser's grandfather who survived the Buchenwald hell by making uniforms.
Rolls of fabric and a long line of suit sleeves, as well as measuring instruments to recall this profession subject to precise rules, fashions, and standards; especially in the contemporary era when uniform clothing characterizes the society in which it is imposed.
