Sara Goldshmied and Eleonora Chiari “Portali” Venice Biennale Art Exhibition
Sara Goldshmied and Eleonora Chiari are two Italian artists who exhibit their works in the Venezia Pavilion of the Biennale at the Giardini.
Portali is presented at Padiglione Venezia as a temple celebrating femininity.
The two exhibition rooms offer a play of light and mirrors misted with coloured vapours in suspension, evoking the mystery of these mixtures of substances operated in alchemist's or magician's stills.
Portali is a threshold showing the subtle limits that separate alchemy from magic, this enigmatic knowledge reserved only for initiated lovers of art and knowledge.
Sara Goldschmied, born in 1975 in Arzignano, and Eleonora Chiari, born in 1971 in Rome, have been working as a duo since 2001.
They work in Milan using different media such as photography and video to explore the concepts of history and memory provocatively, playing on the subtleties that separate irony from parody.
Their work focuses on female sexuality and identity by staging themselves.
Sara Goldschmied and Eleonora Chiari have exhibited in Italy, Japan, the USA, France, Spain, Belgium, and Havana.
