Khaled Sabsabi
Khalil, the close friend in Arabic, is a large open circle that welcomes you into a space as fragrant as a flower-filled garden.

Khalil speaks to you to the rhythm of repetitive music, inviting you to contemplate its gently shifting shapes and colours.

It is a continuous, unstable, shifting flow, an encounter between elements that are both diverse and similar, which separate, reunite and merge seamlessly.

Everything changes and is exchanged through this encounter.

Khaled Sabsabi
No fixed, definitive forms, but fluidity, reflecting a spirituality free from the certainties of a doctrine or ideology that stifles thought, giving rise to intolerance, conflict and violence.

Khaled Sabsabi fled the war in Lebanon in November 1976 to settle in Australia. His work, inspired by Sufi spirituality, invites meditation.

Another work by Khaled Sabsabi, “Conference of one's self”, is on display at the Australian Pavilion in the Giardini at the Venice Art Biennale.
