Arinjoy Sen “Bengali Song” Venice International Architecture Biennale

Marginalised artisans made this triptych of traditional Kantha embroidery from the SHE Kantha collective in Bengal, India.

The “Bengali Song” embroidery wants to show that the planet's survival depends on respect between diverse ecologies and different peoples.

In this Bengali Song project, the architect gives voice to marginalised people by letting them develop their own conceptual and physical stories.

It shows flood-proof houses and low-cost modular homes designed to be installed in coastal floodplains in Bangladesh.

Houses that can be easily assembled and dismantled to allow them to be relocated to higher ground after floods.

The triptych also shows people who live in harmony with nature while living in our modern world, for example, with the representation of the famous plastic chair used worldwide.
