Tintoretto’s Works at the Accademia Galleries in Venice
Tintoretto, St. Mark Freeing the Slave No fewer than fifteen major works by Tintoretto are on display at the Accademia Museum in Venice.
Some of his most famous works, such as the “Miracle of St. Mark Delivering the Slave from Torture” or St. Mark saving a Saracen who had converted to Christianity from a shipwreck.
Tintoretto’s “Madonna of the Treasurers” or his “Assumption of the Virgin” are equally powerful works, as is his impressive “Crucifixion”.
Admittedly, many fine paintings by Tintoretto can also be found at the Scuola Grande San Rocco in Venice, but those on display here will be just as satisfying for those of you who appreciate his style, which was almost revolutionary for its time.
