The Accademia Gallery Museum in Venice
The Accademia Galleries in Venice is, without a doubt, apart from the Doge's Palace, the most beautiful and richest museum in Venice.
Galleries of the Accademia Masterpieces by the greatest Italian painters are on display here, including those by Giovanni Bellini, Carpaccio, Giorgione, Titian, Tiepolo, Tintoretto and Veronese, to name but the most important.
These works are particularly well displayed in the numerous, spacious rooms of the Accademia in Venice. Walking through them feels like being in a vast 17th-century Venetian drawing room.
The size of some of the paintings does indeed require galleries that are not only large enough, but also high enough to accommodate them.
“The Banquet in the House of Levi” by Paolo Veronese measures nearly six metres high by thirteen metres wide, and some of Bellini’s works are just as imposing.
Don’t miss the works by Tintoretto, Titian and Veronese during your visit to the Accademia; they alone are worth the trip.
