CAPTC, sculptures by the Cercle d'Art des Travailleurs de Plantation Congolaise at the Dutch pavilion in the Giardini at the Venice Art Biennale
On the theme of blasphemy and the sacred, Renzo Martens and the artists of CAPTC have created sculptures made from clay sourced from the centuries-old forests of Lusanga in the Democratic Republic of Congo, mixed with cocoa and palm oil.These particularly expressive and powerful sculptures ask us about the Belgian colonisation of the Congo and the enslavement of its inhabitants.
