Buy Music in Venice

Venice, the city of Vivaldi and Monteverdi. where sound is everything.

Harmony is ubiquitous. One might as well say that to bring back a subtle yet not overpowering Venetian aura; nothing is worth more than a good music disc.

Il Tempio della Musica

Our preferred music store in Venice is between Rialto and the Campo San Bartolomeo where the statue of Carlo Goldoni sits on a throne. From the Campo, you head for the bridge of Rialto and you enter the first calle to your right.

Please note, this is not a store for the tourists (as the bulk of those of this quarter) with blinking lights, marble polished floors, or nice posters on walls. Here they like music first before selling it.

Mr. and Mrs. Gabbia and their son Simone are beyond pleasant and welcoming, it is truly a pleasure to go to see them, but on top of that they are genuine enthusiasts and specialists of all that touches classical music and opera.

Additionally, when many of the musicians and singers come to Venice to give performances, as to the opera of Fenice, they make a habit of coming in this “Tempio”, in English the “Temple of Music”.

And it is in effect a small temple of music, a place where music is venerated, not sold as a mass good of consumption in stationary shops or by household appliances or in the supermarket.

Therefore, if you want to be assured of buying the best discs of Vivaldi or Monteverdi or even quite other disc of Opera or even Jazz, if you hesitate between two interpretations, not only will Simone Gabbia, son and house specialist, be able to guide and recommend one to you, but on top of that, you will be able to listen to your disc on a very good hi-fi system before you purchase it.

What could be better?
