Ostaria Ai Pie del Ponte, “At the foot of the bridge” is a tiny, typically Venetian restaurant where the owner, Andrea, is the chef, sommelier and waiter all rolled into one, and is worth the visit in his own right.

Quality is the first thing you appreciate here; all the produce is fresh and comes mainly from the islands around Venice.

We’ll forgive Andrea, however, for using red potatoes from the mountains to make his gnocchi, as they are delicious.

Here you can enjoy traditional and delicious dishes.

As the produce is fresh, the menu changes daily and throughout the year depending on the season.

Here, you can eat fish, meat, cold cuts and cheeses. The prices of the dishes are around €20.

The desserts are just as good; his tiramisu is, in our opinion, one of the best in Venice.

Andrea is also a fine sommelier and can recommend a glass of white or red wine that perfectly complements the dish you have chosen.

The wines he offers are mainly from the region and are natural and organic.

As for allergies, the menu also includes vegetarian and gluten-free dishes.

So everything is perfect if you want to enjoy a pleasant time whilst treating yourself and taking your time.

Andrea is indeed on his own in this tiny restaurant, and his good food takes time to prepare, because here we don’t defrost ready-made meals in a microwave.

This means that if you want a quick bite to eat, this restaurant isn’t for you, here we appreciate life and the quality of the food, and the friendly atmosphere is well worth the wait.
