The Rialto Market in Venice

The Rialto Fish Market, the Pescheria in Venice
The Rialto Fish Market
The Rialto market is a delight for lovers of fish, crustaceans and octopus, but you'll also find fruit, vegetables, flowers, meat...

In fact, when we talk about the Rialto market, we're not talking about one but three very different markets.

The best known is that of the Pescheria (or Pescaria), this is the fish market.

The second is the Erbaria (or erberia) market held along the Grand Canal, between Fabriche Nove and Pescaria. This is the fruit and vegetable market.

The last is the Beccaria (or beccarie or beccherie) which is the meat market.

You'll be spoilt for choice with so much on offer.

Which also means that prices are particularly attractive for those who get up early in the morning.

And yes, there's bad news for late-nighters: by midday we pack up, so we advise you to get there at least by 10am for the pleasure of seeing the shelves still overflowing with magnificent freshly-caught fish.

Please note that all these shops are open from 9am to 9am.

Please note that all these markets are closed on Sundays and Mondays.

And even if you don't buy anything, being able to see these stalls is in itself a real feast for the eyes.

The atmosphere at the vegetable and fruit market, the Erbaria or Erberia is also something not to be missed, Italian and Venetian atmosphere guaranteed!
