The Glass Beads of Murano, necklaces of perfection!

In 1605 the glassblowers of Murano succeeded in coloring crystals, without compromising the translucency.

Today, you can buy necklaces and pendants created by artisans of the craft who still know how to work the glass as the Masters of Murano to give you splendid and of course unique objects.

In Venice there are as many stores selling strands of beads as stores selling masks.

As a result, locating the true craftsman, the genuine artists, whose works will sometimes be even less expensive than those of the boutiques catering to tourists, is not always obvious.

Mentioned below, are the stores where you will find not only the nicest objects but also the most unique beads made in right before your eyes in Venice and not someplace in China.

Al Campanile

Our favorite store! It is absolutely a pure dream here.

You will find it impossible not to be filled with wonder by creations of Sabina Melinato, Maestra of the glass of Murano, who not only teaches her art but also collaborates with the Venetian museums to perform restorations and replications of beautiful art objects.

Neither is Sabina Melinato content with simply making beads.

She also knows how to decorate with finesse and delicacy the glass and is able to use the most ancient techniques,

e-venise

sometimes even optioning to encase gold leaf in the glass, thereby achieving the desired effect.

The majority of her creations are made by using a magnifying glass, so she accomplishes meticulous attention to detail.

Her pendants, entirely made from glass, including the decorations, are incredible works of both beauty and manual skill.

Sabina is indeed a true artist and when you see the vastness of all which she is able to create, it is difficult to imagine that there is anything that she cannot accomplish.

In addition to her splendid artistic gift, include great kindness and a complete open-mindedness to explain her work and the techniques which she uses.

Ciccilan
It is a very tiny boutique nested in the sestiere of San Polo, in a little calle between the churches of San Aponal and San Silvestro. Certainly the store is small, but it is full of superb glass beads created by the artist of the house, Mariagrazia Bonnello.

Mariagrazia is not satisfied with creating only traditional beads, you will also discover glass leaves and other pretty shapes to create the made to order necklace of your dreams.

One can either buy necklaces, bracelets and earrings already made, or compose a personal menu, choosing size, colors and shape

Mariagrazia Bonnello will make suggestions to you with professionalism and kindness to help you to compose your finery: which necklace with which bracelet and which earrings, etc...

One last good surprise of the shop: their prices are particularly reasonable when you take into account the quality of the glass.

Besides the own creations, Mariagrazia Bonello also sells ancient glass beads. Finally, know that she learned his trade to a glass master of Murano with whom she works still regularly to improve her art.

Please know that this shop is far from the typical tourist trap that is content to merely put beads on a string…
